Latest for Amelia’s Magazine, a series to illustrate Hannah Bullivant‘s interview with Alina Raetsep, Editor in Chief of ethical fashion magazine SIX Magazine. Read it in full HERE and while you’re at it check out Hannah’s amazing blog Seeds & Stitches (love her posts on jam making and swedish clogs!).

For the illustrations I wanted to go with SIX Magazine’s Manifesto:

I honestly don’t know where the time goes, can’t believe the year is coming to an end so soon!. Been busy with a million projects, not so much uni work and my new found favourite sport Pilates which to my surprise involves a lot of breathing and cat postures. I’ve been meaning to share these illustrations for Amelia’s Magazine for a while now, more coming soon!

The first one is my take on Matthew Williamson‘s exhibition at Somerset House, you can read the article online here.

I never think of mentioning it but here’s a bit of inspiration/research for the collage above. Really loved the pattern on this skirt from the S/S 2010 collection by  Matthew Williamson (left) and wanted to incorporate it to the design. Using Williamson’s own garments to create the triangular shapes I had a bit of a play with the background pattern very much inspired by the composition of this 1957 fashion shot from My Vintage Vogue (right) which has great scans from, you guessed it, vintage fashion magazines, can’t recommend it enough.

Another pattern I had a lot of fun with, this illustrates the article on the London cycle hire scheme (aka Boris Bikes, Boris Johnson being the mayor of London for those of you not familiar with his mug) available online here. It’s a very interesting article and gives a few tips on cycling around the city which can be a bit (a lot) intimidating at times.

Two variations of the bike pattern, I went for the contrasting orange/blue for the final piece.

Amelia’s Magazine is one of my favourite blogs to follow, I still keep all my old copies of the mag and go through them from time to time for inspiration. So I’m very very happy to have contributed to it with some illustrations for the catwalk show at Latitude Festival, reading her review here and here makes me wish I’d been there so much!.

This is my absolute favourite from Coco de Mer for Circus Child‘s collection. The red sequin body and matching head piece have a definite circus and burlesque flair to them, don’t they?…it’s my birthday in 8 months, anyone?

I had a bit too much fun with this one from Central Saint Martins graduate Lee Brown :

Hope to contribute again in the future, I’m finding I quite enjoy working on 24h deadlines, makes you focus and take quick decisions. Thank you for this Amelia!
